Kigali’s Kimironko Market is a sensory rush of bright colors and strong smells. The market houses plantations of fresh food, fruit, and vegetables are laid out on tables and stacked to the ceiling. In the second half of the market, you will find a variety of traditional and second-hand clothes.
Tip: Don’t forget to try the tamarillo (tree tomato), a fruit with a slightly bitter and explosive taste; it’s also great for making jam.
Feel the sand with bare feet and then, dip them in the turquoise waters of Lake Kivu in the middle of Africa. It’s the world’s 18th deepest lake and is surrounded by mountains, outcrops of rocks, and beautiful green terraced tea plantations leading to a strikingly dramatic scenery.
Gorilla trekking safaris offer a magical encounter that transcends any other ‘wildlife’ experience. Early in the morning, trackers will head into the mountains to locate each family, and the chances of seeing the gorillas are extremely high!

Precautions during Gorilla Trekking
Paths on gorilla treks can be slippery, muddy and steep so sturdy walking boots are essential. A water-resistant jacket may come in handy and take water bottles and snacks in case it’s a long trek. You might also find a walking pole or stick helpful.
Best Time for Gorilla Trekking
The most popular times for gorilla trekking are during the drier months, between December and February, and from about June to mid-September.
The best time to travel to Rwanda is during the dry seasons, periods between December to early March and June to September.
