Salzburg, a quaint little town of Austria, personifies a beautiful country-side painting. Located on the banks of River Salzach, it is flanked by the mighty Alps at the northern boundary, whereas the southern border has contrast green rolling plains. Translated as “High Salzburg Fortress,” Hohensalzburg Castle is one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. Though the roots go back to the 11th century which may sound too historical, the villa is modern and relevant even today for the concerts that it hosts. The castle takes pride in the fact that it has never been under seize. It has become a famous attraction owing to the Festungsbahn funicular railway, which is an easier way to access the fortress and is in itself quite an experience.

UNESCO has listed, the palace, built in baroque and neoclassical style, and its gardens as a World Heritage Site. The lust gardens have several mythological creatures and feature in the famous movie ‘Sound of Music.’ The palace and the gardens have many stories attached to it, which make it an exciting stop in the picturesque Salzburg.

Mozart’s Birthplace at No. 9 Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria is the birthplace of renowned composer, Mozart was born on 27th January 1756. The house is now a museum that has extensive exhibits about Mozart’s childhood and his passion for music.

A must-visit place for the people who are passionate about automobiles. Hangar 7 is a giant building with 75000 square feet glass surface and hosts a collection of historical airplanes, helicopters, and Formula One racing cars. It also has a Michelin Star restaurant Ikarus to satiate your taste buds.


Experience the old world charm of this European square in the same old fashioned horse-drawn carriages. Linger around the archbishop residences, Salzburg Cathedral, the Old Residence marveling at the intricate baroque architecture. The elegant fountain in the center of the square elevates the beauty of Residenzplatz. If you happen to visit Salzburg during Christmas, you will be in for some spectacular decorations at this square.

One of the must-visit in Salzburg is the Hellbrunn Palace, which was the day residence of archbishops during Summers. Hellbrunn Palace is not only known for its Baroque style architecture but a practical joke conducted on the guests who sit on seats of the stone dining table. They go through a surprise shower session through hidden fountains. Sound of Music’s ‘Sixteen going on Seventeen’ is filmed at this gem of an attraction.

St. Peter’s Abbey was founded in 690 AD; however, the present buildings date mainly from the 17th centuries. It is one of the oldest monasteries in the German-speaking area and is the oldest library in Austria.

Salzburg Cathedral also known as Salzburger Dom is a 17th-century Baroque cathedral. The interior of the cathedral contains the font where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized.
