The Medici Riccardi Palace is a unique blend of a family's pride with Renaissance elegance. Built for the Medici in the 15th century, the palace still resembles its strong rusticated stone facade for palaces in Italy, but looks distinguished as well. However, the real treasure inside the palace is the Magi Chapel, a rank finish of the frescoes of the Journey of the Magi created by Benozzo Gozzoli. The vivid coloring, representation of the portraits of the Medici themselves, and the overall fantasy atmosphere of the decorations gives one the feeling of wonderment. As you walk the halls and courtyard you feel the sleeping strength of the Medici and the refined elegance of Renaissance Florence in a way that feels extraordinarily personal.
